In the UK there are two different sets of rules that can affect how drivers of goods vehicles must keep record of their hours of work. These rules are as follows: EU Regulation 3821/85. This regulation applies to the vast majority of goods vehicle drivers in the UK who drive vehicles in excess of 3500kg permissable maximum weight. Domestic rules are derived from the Transport Act 1986 and apply to drivers of goods vehicles not exceeding 3500 kg PMW and also to vehicles over the threshold, which are specifically exempted from the EU rules. In addition to the records required by the legislation listed above, the Working Time regulations require employers to keep records enabling them to substantiate that their employees' work complies with limits such as weekly working time and night work. AVS can provide your company with all the necessary training and support to enable you to implement these regulations within your company. Training sessions can be arranged during the evening, or at weekends.
